Well I haven't really posted anything on here, so I thought I'd blog a bit about my recent art work. My most recent work was something I worked on for the art group I belong to called Altered Art Obsession. It was for a things what we're calling our "Style Series Fatbooks". For each series we have a theme based on the style from a book or an artist. So the most recent series was based on the work form the book Alphabetica: An A-Z Creativity Guide for Collage and Book Artists by Lynne Perrella.
I made the above pages by doing the painting first. I painted on on some plastic plates (the kind you buy for a party and then throw away). I orginally was thinking I'd peal the paint off the plate after it dried to use on the page, but it didn't peal off very well. So instead I cut up the plate into squares to use. I picked the favorite parts to use on the front. I did on plate with primary colors on it and then I did one with my favorite colors (which is what you see on the back side of the page.) I cut them both up because I wasn't sure which one I would like best as the finished product. After I finished the painting and was waiting for them to dry I started going through my "People" magazines for words that I could collage together for the background and then glued them down using gel medium. I scanned it into my puter after I was done before I put on the squares so I could make a page with the primary colors and the one with my fav colors. Here's the collage without the sqaures on it.
This is what it looked like with my fav color squares glued onto a print of the collaged back ground. I was thinking I'd use this as my back side of the above page, but it seemed too busy to me. So I reversed the colors of the collaged background and picked my favorite colored square from the squares I made with my favorite colors and centered it on the back. And that's what you see above, right below the front side pic that I posted first. I really enjoy that I can use my computer skills to help me make my art look good too! I'll make another post about the other syle series pages I've made later on.
This is the front view of the page I made.
And this is the back view of the page.

This is the collage before I cleaned it up on the computer a bit.
